From block to blade
The making of a Kalaknot tie
Carve
A motif is drawn, then chiselled into a teak block — the master tool that defines the print.
Dye
Cloth is steeped in natural indigo and madder baths until the colour runs deep and even.
The block is inked and pressed by hand, registered impression by impression across the silk.
Finish
Each tie is cut, lined and hand-rolled, then checked against the light for a flawless edge.
